NY TIMES

. In reading the article of the New York times (the SpeakUP article to be precise) it was initially difficult to understand how any of it was relevant. As I continued to read, however, I began to realize how interesting these observations were. It surprises me to think that no one has tried to point out any such observation before.
. It is fascinating to see the accidental connections between different articles on each news page. Some connections seem to help the articles be more convincing with their subliminal connotations, and others make very obvious contradictions that are often quite amusing.

. Blecker is an artist who was fascinated with this observation which was duly duly noted first by Laura Field. Blecker made an interesting observation when commenting about his work:

“...That’s what all artists whisper beneath their work. It’s a mark you make that you want to leave on the world. It’s what you want to be thought of, and your work represents you. It is you when you’re not you anymore. When you’re gone.”

FINAL STATEMENT

Taking the time to think about how to communicate something visually makes for a very insightful learning experience. It stimulates one's creativity, making you stretch your mind in order to think of new things. Using the dots, as we did at first, to communicate a specific word was a healthy way to stimulate the mind.

Using the same method of communicating with the words was a very similar exercise.
It was interesting to see how everything started to come together after deciding on what materials and imagery to use. With so many possibilities at hand, it was - at times - a difficult task to choose whether to go one way or the other.

It is a satisfying experience to look at the final product. Flipping through the book and seeing the composition of the transparencies over the composition of the dots with imagery lets me really appreciate the serendipitous aspects of the book.

No project is ever really finished. When you finally decided that a project actually is finished, you start to realize all of the other things that you should have done. With my book, I realized that I should have used the paper that I used with the imagery as the paper of the actual pages. The paper that was used for the imagery was hand died, and manipulated in such a way that it would look old. with the richness in color and texture, it would have made the book as a whole a more interesting product.

READING RESPONSE TRANSPARENCY

Allowing space for serendipitous behavior as a graphic element in the work process makes the process itself interesting, and it makes the outcome very much exciting.

The idea of using transparency as a communicative device of the book does well for expressing any information. it is a helpful element of the project; not hindering- though it can be problematic at times. The whole experience gives rise to a good deal of problem solving opportunities.

the juxtaposing elements of the transparencies over the dot compositions contributes aesthetically to the book. Being able to see a whole composition change dramatically when the transparent layer of a page is moved, and the dots are fully exposed helps the viewer actively engage with every specific composition.

framing, correspondence, continuation.

This image is a good example of the use of framing, as well as correspondence in that both of the circles that make up the main composition are overlapping have a spot of color which denotes a connection between the two shapes.
