DAWN
SHADOW
DAY
NIGHT
__________
.Here is my the process that I went through to get to DAWN:
I started by printing out a bunch of copies of the word dawn in different fonts.
then I cut out the counter spaces of each letter and photographed the shadow through the light.
then I found a good photo of the word dawn that looked fuzzy - the camera was out of focus - thats how i got the fuzzyness:
later, after taking a good deal many photographs that i could choose from, I threw these two ideas together and wrestled around with them in photoshop and got something like this:
_____________
.I used a similar approach for SHADOW. All I did for that was the inverse of shadow:
photoshop helped me to eventually get here:
I used a similar process for day and night. but for these I needed them to be low contrast compared to dawn and day. day is mostly light and night is mostly dark.
.evolution for DAY:
(what i did to take the photos was to use another cutout and put a light behind that).
NIGHT:
for night i drew a pen over the word and then photographed it with a moving camera.
for the background I made marks with the pen and then photographed that.
here are some photos:

I tried stitching together these four, it was a neat idea, but not necesary for this project:

As I was developing those, I had also to come up with an already established logo and my own tagline.
I chose BBC
Initially I had
BBC weather you like it or not
THEN
weather you like it or not
the latest weather
check the weather
have a nice day
what's the weather like?
the latest weather
get through to the weather
brighten up with the weather
weather - aclimate
__
tagline changes with the weather (moveable display):
have a sunny day
acclimate to the storm
keep warm
____________
FINALLY:
BBC WEATHER- the weather is here
but then i changed my theme to all news coverage and entertainment all ours of the clock:
BBC day and night
I had to redraw the label and work out how i was going to get the it to work with the tagline:
(here i learned that GILL was the appropriate typeface for BBC)
________
I THEN APPLIED THE IMAGES TO THE BUS TEMPLATES AND THE BILLBOARD SIGNS:
_______
BUSSES:
